The Mohawk Trail Challenge
10,000 Meals in 2023
By Mohawk 4x4 Adventures, Inc
Saturday, December 30th 2023 Mohawk 4x4 Adventures will be hosting (Part II) of our annual fundraiser benefiting the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts. Over the course of the last 3 years members and our friends and families have donated enough funding to provide 24,796 meals. Our goal for this year is to raise enough funding to provide another 10,000 meals for the food bank. This event is being extended and will utilize a private property available to Mohawk 4x4 Adventures in New Braintree, MA. (Location and meeting time sent to those that RSVP and is subject to change via email.) This property is wicked cool. There's routes for everyone and options that aren't necessary off the main trails. Everyone can participate!
The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts has been servicing the area since 1982 and distributing food to the members of Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire counties. They are a member of Feeding America, a national network of 200 food banks.
We invite you to join us on this fun adventure in Central Massachusetts for a great cause. With your help this will be an amazing event and goal achievement.
All proceeds will be donated to the Food Bank of Western MA. Any transaction fees are collected by the payment processor.
Mohawk 4x4 Adventures, Inc is kicking in the first pledge of $250!
For 2023, we are asking for a $50 donation for the trail ride. If every member receiving the email blast could donate $50 we can do this! If you can't donate, maybe you could find ONE person to donate $50 and we can still do this! Or 3 people to donate $20. (As of 11/27/2023, we have funding for 3,891 meals.)
The Trails - Part II of our Mohawk Trail Challenge is on a private property we have helped develop and maintain. It is owned by a club member. The “basic” trail loops are considered green and blue and there are trails you can do in any stock Wrangler with 29” tires. Snow and rain DO affect trail difficulty. There’s also a couple of options on some rocks! If you choose to do these options, they range from Black to Red and only one rig that I recall has done the red obstacle without winching. If you choose to avoid these obstacles, you simply avoid them and watch. Everything here is optional! The “big obstacles” are simply on loops off the main trail!
Trail Requirements Include:
A Spare Tire capable of getting your vehicle off the trail. 10% size variance in inches is ok.
First Aid Kit
Fire Extinguisher
Tools to change your tire
Vehicles must be registered for street use in their home state with a valid license plate
Recovery points - subject to inspection by the club
Club members are required to have a current and valid MA OHV Registration. Guests can get a pass for this event, but it is the law in Massachusetts. If you would like to register and get your MA OHV Permit and Registration, email president@mohawk4x4.org and Mike will assist you.
*Our club HIGHLY recommends this initiative!!! It is the law in MA and will ultimately support 4WDs in Massachusetts.*
All attendees will be required to sign a waiver of liability. *Children - Parents will fill this part out on behalf of their children or children in their care.
The meeting time will be 9 AM in New Braintree, MA. Saturday Dec 30th, 2023. Rain, Snow or Shine.
The final details for the Trail Ride will be sent via email to people that sign up. Donors (not attending the ride) will not get the Trail Ride details automatically.
Yes - anyone can definitely donate and all proceeds will be given to the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts! If you're just donating, we're accepting donations of at least $20 this year. Just $20 provides 60 meals.
*In previous years, we were providing 4 meals/$1 dollar. Inflation has caused price increases for everyone and everything. This year we have to ask for more because it is 3 meals/$1 dollar, according to the food bank.*
**We do not accept food donations, this is a fundraiser.**
